Dr. Alessandra Luchini was the winner of the first edition of THE PREMIO AWARD, HONORING ITALIAN WOMEN SCIENTISTS IN NORTH AMERICA (2009).  Today we proudly announce her nomination among the TOP TEN BRILLIANT SCIENTISTS UNDER 40 OF 2011 by POPULAR SCIENCE (only in print at the moment)This is the type of recognition that makes all our efforts worth it.
Since we met Professor Luchini when we launched the first edition of The Premio Award, we had no doubt that she was a brilliant scientist, an exceptional young Italian researcher and now also a great mother.  We believe she will be of great inspiration to many smart women researchers who are not always recognized for their great work.
Below her thank you note to Bridges to Italy and ITWIIN, our Italian partners in this annual competition.
"Dear Ladies,I hope this email finds you very well.

I am sending excerpts of the November issue of Popular Science that features the 2011 Brilliant ten nominations for the best scientists below the age of 40.  I have feelings of deep gratitude towards the associations such as Bridges to Italy, ITWIIN and GWIIN that believed in my research in the past and I have wonderful memories of our meetings. Thank you very much!!! Best regards
